Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities report that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
