Fresh Details Come to Light About the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the shocking deaths of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence property on Sunday.
The Initial Report
A source indicates referencing a confidential source, a therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source challenged several previously reported details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Additionally disputed circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. Although the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
