Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Concerns.
'Significant concern' for the English camp after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.
Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems after leaving the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.
Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.
The touring camp reported Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".
The final Test in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January begins on Sunday, 4 January.
The English side has previously lost strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain on the current trip.
A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.
His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.
He was omitted for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the fourth Test in the playing XI.
Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman being one of only three England players to get into double digits.
After bowling one over at the end of day one, he came back on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.
Unfortunately, on the final ball of his spell, he sent down a change of pace to the batsman and promptly felt for his hamstring.
The English bowler was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out the previous Test.
