The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
