The Hit Drama Confirmed for 7th Season on the British Broadcaster
The beloved police drama Line of Duty is officially returning for its 7th season, confirmed by the broadcaster.
A brand new six-part season created by the show's creator starts production in Belfast this spring, as confirmed by the production team.
The actress shared her enthusiasm about the comeback, stating she was "so excited" about the show's renewal. Adrian Dunbar added, "What a joy it is to know that the main trio will be back filming together soon."
The previous season wrapped up in recent years with a final episode that attracted more than 17 million viewers. Speculation about a potential return have been circulating ever since, but official word only came recently.
Fresh Obstacles for AC-12
Series seven begins with AC-12 having been disbanded and rebranded as the new police oversight body, as revealed by the announcement.
Martin Compston's character, Kate Fleming, and Adrian Dunbar's part continue tasked to tackle corruption within the law enforcement.
Their work "has never been more difficult", and under these circumstances, these officers will take on their "most sensitive case to date."
Fresh Face and Complex Case
An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, described as a charming officer known for busts of criminal networks, faces allegations of abusing his position to act as a sexual predator.
Yet, his case might serve as a deliberate distraction from a larger danger still operating in the shadows, plot details suggested.
In a statement, Jed Mercurio commented: "All cast and crew are deeply thankful to the dedicated viewers."
"It's an honor to have had countless followers track the developments of AC-12 over multiple series and we couldn't be more delighted to be returning for a seventh installment."
He added: "Corruption in the UK is supposed to have ended while Line of Duty was not airing, so I've been forced to use my imagination."

The Scottish actor described appearing in the series as "a job of a lifetime".
"Beyond the program's popularity but the colleagues I've collaborated with I now call some of my closest friends."

Series Legacy
Line of Duty premiered in the early 2010s and evolved into a highly successful TV dramas of the past ten years, featuring notable actors such as Stephen Graham.
Broadcasters has not yet announced when the new season will hit screens.
The conclusion of series six brought the long-running storyline about the hunt for kingpin known as "H" to a close, and producers said at the time there were no intentions for further series.
However, the corporation confirmed on this week that a new season is now in development.
