The President Calls Families of Shot Military Personnel to White House

Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Tragic Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Attendees gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to support law enforcement in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the press. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The incident caused the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt providing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
